Public Notice Regarding a Data Breach in Accordance with Article 34 of the GDPR at GUS LAB GmbH

What happened?

On July 1, 2025, an unauthorized access incident occurred involving an email account belonging to GUS LAB GmbH. Email data was stolen, and phishing emails were subsequently sent.

Access was immediately blocked upon detection of the incident, the affected account was secured, and further protective measures were implemented.

What data is affected? What consequences can be expected?

The stolen data includes the emails contained in the affected mailbox. Depending on their content, these emails may contain various types of personal data, in particular:

  • general contact information (name, address, email address, phone number),
  • Contract and business data,
  • in some cases, confidential information, such as that related to human resources.

We cannot rule out the possibility that this data may be misused, for example through further phishing attempts, identity theft, or unauthorized disclosure.

What measures has GUS LAB GmbH taken?

  • The attack was immediately stopped, the affected mailbox was secured, and security measures were tightened.
  • The relevant data protection supervisory authority, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), and the police were notified in a timely manner.
  • External cybersecurity experts are investigating the incident and overseeing the next steps.
  • The recipients of the phishing emails were notified separately shortly thereafter.

What can you do now?

We recommend that you pay close attention to incoming messages. In particular, please be on the lookout for:

  • Sender addresses and unusual spellings,
  • unexpected attachments or links,
  • Requests to disclose confidential information.

Do not open suspicious emails or disclose any sensitive information. If you notice any irregularities (e.g., with your bank or insurance information), change your login credentials and contact your financial institution if necessary.

You can find helpful tips on how to handle suspicious emails from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).
