There are legal requirements that mandate regular testing of drinking water. The data collected by laboratories during these tests must be forwarded to the relevant public health departments and, where applicable, to federal agencies. This data exchange process varies significantly depending on the state, public health department, or laboratory. This also makes the exchange potentially error-prone, as many different data formats must be converted or, in some cases, adapted at considerable expense. Furthermore, adapting a multitude of interfaces to new requirements and developments places a significant burden on all parties involved.
That is why SHAPTH (Interface Harmonization and Exchange Platform for Drinking Water Hygiene) was developed to establish a uniform national standard. This ensures that the methods and coding systems used are consistent. The shared platform is intended to facilitate the harmonization of data exchange formats used in Germany for (drinking) water analysis, as well as the associated data and catalogs.
SHAPTH Interface – Structure
SHAPTH consists of a shared data exchange platform and the associated data standard (XWasser). XWasser includes, among other things, the structure of test reports and coding lists, and is kept up to date. As a platform, SHAPTH provides communication channels (REST API and GraphQL) and interfaces, while also enabling authentication.
How can we help you with that?
The unified data exchange platform is intended to be used by all stakeholders involved in the areas of testing, water supply, monitoring, and reporting related to drinking water. Our SHAPTH extension (including for LABbase) allows you to maintain your master data related to the code lists used by SHAPTH, as well as generate test reports and send them to the SHAPTH portal.
