ENMOhydro

ENMO®hydro is a web-based monitoring system for water quality data that continuously collects measurements, analyzes them in real time, and triggers automatic alerts when critical thresholds are reached—reliable, modular, and multi-tenant capable.

Water Monitoring with ENMO®hydro

ENMO®hydro is a comprehensive monitoring system designed to continuously monitor and ensure the quality of water bodies. It is an extremely effective solution, for example, when it comes to implementing the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). The WFD requires that all surface waters within the EU achieve good ecological and chemical status by 2027 at the latest.

Because ENMO®hydro uses emission-based alarm thresholds, critical water discharges can be identified at an early stage. This allows those responsible to take appropriate countermeasures in a timely manner.  On the other hand, continuous and automated water monitoring serves as a preventive measure, as it facilitates the identification of sources of pollution. Even though the Water Framework Directive does not yet mandate automated monitoring networks—the trend is unmistakably moving in this direction.

Components

ENMO®hydro consists of three components: ENMO® Site, ENMO® Server, and ENMO® Client.

ENMO® Site continuously collects measurement data as well as status and error messages from the connected measurement systems at the monitoring stations. The data sets are temporarily stored on the ENMO® Site computers and then transmitted via the Internet to the ENMO® server. With the optionally available ENMO® IT SEES plug-in, the data undergoes anomaly detection, and an alarm index is automatically generated, simplifying the rapid assessment of the current water conditions.

The measurement data and status reports from all monitoring stations are collected at a monitoring network control center and stored in an Oracle database. The ENMO® server immediately evaluates the incoming data—if the alarm index indicates an abnormal water condition, the responsible personnel are automatically notified via SMS and email. At the same time, a workflow is initiated to analyze event samples automatically collected from the monitoring stations.

The client can be easily configured so that the user can quickly view all the parameters required for assessing water quality. The client also manages equipment, master data, access rights, and the schedule, including maintenance routines. To ensure that collected data can be presented with minimal effort, the ENMO® Client supports the export of vector graphics, Excel documents, and bitmap graphics—and the layout is preserved during export.

Real-time Monitoring: Keeping an Eye on Water Conditions at All Times

ENMO® IT SEES is a tool that detects abnormal water conditions in real time. It analyzes and evaluates the input data sets—such as standard water parameters and biomonitoring data—to determine whether they meet the criterion of “abnormality.” The tool displays such abnormalities in an alarm index. If defined thresholds are exceeded, ENMO® IT SEES generates a warning. Even subtle anomalies in the water can thus be detected. ENMO® IT SEES is the result of the EASE research and development project, which focused on developing alarm criteria and incident measurement at monitoring stations in the Elbe River basin for international hazard mitigation planning. Participants included bbe Moldaenke from Kiel and the Hamburg Water Quality Monitoring Network.

Your benefits at a glance

  • Prompt response and rapid identification of polluters using real-time data in the event of water contamination.
  • Automatic notification of the responsible parties in the event of a hazardous substance release.
  • Automatically trigger relevant actions at the affected monitoring sites in the event of a pollutant release: for example, increasing the frequency of automated sampling. This saves time and improves the efficiency of your water monitoring.
  • Flexible configuration of roles and access rights for your team: You can easily specify who is allowed to view or edit which data in ENMO®hydro, and how often.
  • Multi-user application: Multiple users can operate the water monitoring system simultaneously in different languages.
  • First-class industry expertise with over 40 years of experience
  • 100% customer focus and solution-oriented expertise on an equal footing: personal, reliable, and productive.

Equipment maintenance already included

The ENMO®hydro integrable quality management module offers a “modular system” for maintaining connected measuring devices and sensors. It not only meets all requirements for effective maintenance but also simplifies accreditation and certification processes. The individual components of the maintenance “modular system” can be combined into maintenance procedures without any programming knowledge. During maintenance, the solution logs all processes. Special events occurring during maintenance are also automatically recorded in the logbook. The dynamic design of the maintenance workflows allows maintenance to be paused, as well as individual tasks to be skipped or repeated.
