ERP Middleware Laboratory Software for the Transition to Industry 4.0
ERP systems are used worldwide in virtually all chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical companies and, with features such as a QM module, provide numerous functionalities that were previously the exclusive domain of traditional LIMS and CAQ systems. For example, the SAP PLM QM module offers no options for direct integration with laboratory equipment and thus reaches its limits of acceptance, particularly for more extensive analyses (e.g., GC, HPLC, ICP, XRF, etc.) as well as in regulated environments. The manual transfer of measurement values already available in electronic form thus leads to significantly more effort and errors. In light of developments such as IoT or Industry 4.0, the availability of complete measurement data—including raw data—is particularly desirable and of paramount importance, especially for vertical integration.

Our software solution LABS QM
As an SAP partner, we also successfully support customers in the SAP environment. For example, we assist customers with configuring the SAP PLM QM module, creating and customizing functional modules, and we also provide training on how to use the QM module. In addition, the SAP middleware LABS/QM from the LABS Suite offers optimal functionality for connecting any measuring devices and measurement systems directly to SAP QM. In addition to automatic measuring device integration, a mobile option for manual measurement data entry is also provided.

ERP Middleware Laboratory Software for Increased Efficiency
The middleware also offers the ability to capture and centrally archive supplementary information—such as the usage of all measuring instruments and chemicals (including quantities), images, analyses, etc.—all the way down to the raw data from the measuring instruments. This enables a GxP/FDA-compliant workflow. In addition, the LABS/QM middleware increases the level of automation in the laboratory, thereby significantly contributing to improved employee efficiency and resulting cost reductions across the entire laboratory workflow. The LABS Suite features SAP-certified interfaces (see current SAP certificate). These web service-based interfaces can be adapted to actual needs through simple configuration. The LABS/QM middleware can be deployed both as a standalone solution and within the HANA Cloud Platform (HCP) with the HANA database. Particularly when using HCP and the HANA database, all information—including raw data—is available for analysis.
