VALIDAT Interlaboratory Testing Software

Quality assurance through interlaboratory tests

In addition to method validation, method transfer, and the monitoring of test and measurement equipment, interlaboratory comparisons are also considered an element of quality assurance. In this process, identical samples with known compositions are analyzed in various laboratories (internal or external), and the measurement results are compared. This allows conclusions to be drawn regarding measurement accuracy, the quality of the participating laboratories, and the suitability of the procedure or method. Accredited testing laboratories must regularly participate in interlaboratory comparisons in accordance with the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard or as part of government approval procedures to demonstrate that they consistently deliver measurement results of the expected quality. However, interlaboratory comparisons are also necessary for continuous quality assurance within a company where, for example, equivalent products are manufactured and tested in different countries or facilities.

Planning Interlaboratory Tests with VALIDAT
Planning interlaboratory tests, distributing information and samples to participating laboratories, tracking deadlines, collecting measurement results and analyzing them graphically and statistically, as well as generating and distributing reports, involves a considerable amount of work. The sources of error in information gathering and distribution are extremely diverse. The VALIDAT interlaboratory testing software, especially when used in conjunction with the LIMS LABS/Q®, significantly simplifies these extensive tasks. Through automated processes for planning, task assignment, measurement result recording and transfer, as well as deadline and status tracking—all the way through to automatic statistical and graphical analysis and evaluation, along with report generation and distribution—the effort required to carry out a proficiency testing project is reduced to a minimum with VALIDAT.

Effectiveness and Safety

Sample Processing and Reporting of Measurement Results
In the relevant laboratories, samples are processed according to specifications, measurement values are determined, and the measurement results are forwarded to VALIDAT. Measurement results can be imported via interfaces or entered manually. VALIDAT monitors deadlines and ensures data completeness.

Planning and Task Assignment
In VALIDAT, interlaboratory testing projects can be created based on templates or information from a LIMS (e.g., LABS/Q®). The relevant data is then sent to the participating laboratories, e.g., via email. In conjunction with the LABS/Q® LIMS, the samples are also prepared, labeled, and sent to the laboratories along with a corresponding cover letter.

Calculation, Analysis, and Reporting
Once all results are available, the measurement results are calculated, analyzed, and evaluated. Afterward, reports can be generated and distributed.
