The new ENMO®hydro add-on allows you to run a task in Windows according to a predefined schedule without manual intervention, generating the relevant graphics regularly and automatically.
The State Operating Company for Environment and Agriculture (BfUL) currently operates five water quality monitoring stations on the Elbe, Lausitzer Neiße, and Vereinigte Mulde rivers in Saxony on behalf of the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture, and Geology (LfULG).
The stations are used for continuous monitoring of water quality and are equipped with numerous online physicochemical and biological monitors. River water is sampled as daily or weekly composite samples, and suspended solids are collected as monthly composite samples. These samples are then subjected to comprehensive analysis in the BfUL laboratory. Furthermore, event-based sampling is automatically triggered when threshold values are exceeded or not met.
The ENMO®hydro program is used as a comprehensive software solution for controlling and monitoring the operation of stations—including their pump, sampling, and analysis systems—as well as for data transfer, data storage, and the analysis and evaluation of measurement data.
Working together, the software developers and users enhanced the software's functionality. Now, automated selection processes defined within the system can not only be initiated and executed directly by the user, but a task is also run in Windows according to a predefined schedule (e.g., hourly) without manual intervention, generating the relevant graphics regularly and automatically.
To do this, the ENMO®hydro program is launched using a functional USER (e.g., Monitor); the graphics specified in the respective automatic selection process are loaded and exported to a predefined folder. The program is then closed.
The BfUL has been successfully using this software enhancement since the end of July 2021 to update the graphical display of measurement results hourly on its website and on the information monitor located directly at the water quality monitoring station in Schmilka, regardless of the day of the week or office hours. Data validation continues to be performed manually on each workday, taking into account various quality assurance measures and functional tests of the “overall water quality monitoring station system.” The progress of the data for the various parameters is now updated hourly, subject to reservation (unvalidated values).
This solution has made it possible to meet the needs of many interested parties who wish to stay fully informed about the latest developments in water quality.
