Once again this year, we are foregoing Christmas gifts and donating to two important organizations instead.
A safe haven for children and teens in need
The Schlupfwinkel und Sorgentelefon Gera e. V. association was founded in 1990 as a child protection organization. Through flexible educational support, it provides safe and reliable assistance to young people and children in need.
Among the most important services are the child protection shelter with a hotline and another child protection shelter for infants and toddlers, which is available around the clock. It offers a safe haven for children in acute situations of danger. In addition, there is the Child and Youth Protection Service, parenting support, social group work, a social skills training course, and a family-oriented center. School social work rounds out the services by supporting educational pathways and addressing social challenges early on.
Another focus is on prevention programs designed to help reduce violence against children and adolescents. The association promotes partnerships with public and private youth welfare organizations, as well as local institutions, facilities, and associations that share similar goals. The association is neither affiliated with any religious denomination nor politically aligned.
GUS LAB GmbH is pleased to recognize Schlupfwinkel’s important work with a donation. Collaborating with organizations like this demonstrates how local engagement can have a lasting positive impact on people’s lives.

Life motto: Save lives
Water safety is the top priority for the activities of the German Life Saving Association (DLRG) Cologne-Mitte Local Chapter. In addition to preventing drowning deaths, the association’s members also work to educate people about safe behavior around water. This includes providing timely and ongoing information about dangers in and around water as well as safety-conscious behavior, training in swimming and self-rescue, lifesaving, and the continuing education of lifeguards for training and deployment.
In addition, the local chapter organizes a comprehensive water rescue service as part of the general emergency response efforts of the federal government, states, and municipalities. Another key focus is on youth work and the promotion of young talent. The volunteers’ responsibilities also include training and continuing education in first aid and medical care, supporting recreational activities on, in, and around the water, as well as conducting rescue sports exercises and competitions. The integration and support of people with disabilities is also a priority, as is close cooperation with domestic and foreign authorities and organizations.
We are pleased to support the valuable work of DLRG Köln-Mitte e.V.
As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Take a look through the gallery, which the DLRG has kindly provided!
